Feature by Ron Price:
Rare Candy Madness - If you have a Game Boy Color and you build up 999 Watts, you can use infa-red communication to send them to your Pokemon Gold or Silver game pak in the form of...*drumroll*...one piece of Rare Candy! If there is a steady amount of walking in your everyday life (as there is in mine) you can build up two pieces of Rare Candy per week simply by keeping Pokemon Pikachu 2 GS clipped to your side and not even thinking about it. Worried that this will hinder your already bad record with picking up chicks? Just wear your long t-shirts (the only kind of shirt I own), and no one will know that you are traveling with the Pocket Monster spokesman...er, spokes-thing...stuck to your belt.

Of course, you can always force the issue by gambling to build up your Watts, or you can settle for the lesser prizes that are rewarded for sending a low number of Watts to Gold or Silver. Naturally, I don’t send Watts until I’ve built up 999, but I did send 270 just to see what happens and I received an arguably worthless Bitter Berry.

The Little Things - Pokemon Pikachu 2 GS lets you do a few other small things. It has an internal clock with an alarm. The alarm has a very low volume, so it better serves as a “heads-up” alarm than one to actually wake a human. Most surprisingly, the unit’s alarm jingle can be programmed by the user. I’m not musically inclined enough to play with this option, but I’m sure anyone who knows some notes will have fun with it.

It is also possible to send Watts to other Pokemon Pikachu 2 GS units, just in case you and a friend are really into the “Make Pikachu happy!” element.
